The False Image of Power by Proving Itself Right

In this article  am discussing Master More’s words: «One of the saddest situations you can see on the path is where two people both believe they have attained a certain level of Christhood but (…) they are trying to prove the other wrong (…) they think it has some epic importance that they prove themselves right».[1]

The Separate Self ‘s Quest for Power on Earth

This year of 2026 has been a progressive revelation by our Masters, of the mechanisms behind the functioning of the ego and its origin in the sense of separate identity.

The need to legitimise the ego has given rise to the serpentine mindset and all the ego and epic dramas that Master Jesus taught us about in his books.

The sense of separate identity emerged as a consequence of dualistic consciousness, which is based on the struggle of antagonism generated by viewing everything as the opposite of something else.

Concerning human identity, this manifests as a need to prove oneself right by proving others wrong: if I am right, then others must be wrong — there is no other option.

The ego has no spiritual substance; it is born from matter as a reflection of earthly experiences. As such, it has an inherent sense of lack.

When the 'conscious you' identifies with this sense of separate identity, it stops the connection with the Christ mind. This sense of lack is then felt, and the 'conscious you' strives for power on earth to replace the natural sense of completeness given by the Christ mind.

However, this fullness can only be achieved through a vertical connection between the 'conscious you' and something higher than itself. The separate self can only establish horizontal relationships, which cannot fulfil this need.

In this identification with the separate sense of identity, the separate self looks for the sense of fullness, or 'oneness', that it had before by striving for power in this world.

The drama on Earth, with its fallen consciousness, is that the separate sense of identity in which most people are does not allow them to see how useless it is to prove oneself right.

As spiritual students, we may think that we are 'above' conflicts and the desire to prove ourselves 'right'; however, if we pay attention, we can recognise how we always try to 'be right' in every discussion we have with others in our everyday life.

We need to be aware of this disposition because it is very real: we always feel that, in any disagreement with others, we are in a sort of trial and we need – epically need- to prove that ‘we are right’, no matter what the situation is.

There is this epic need to prove ourselves right. When I say 'we', we must recognise that it is not our true identity that feels this need, but the sense of identity that belongs to the separate self.

Our true sense of identity — the 'conscious you' — is the localised awareness of our 'I am' presence. It does not need to prove anything in this world because it knows that Earth is just a learning environment where there are no absolute truths and no 'wrongs' or 'rights'.

It's no surprise that Master Jesus told us that until we leave Earth, remnants of the separate self and the ego will remain.

However, our Masters have given us enough teachings to help us question these mechanisms and learn to look within ourselves in order to deconstruct and overcome them little by little.

This is not an easy task, but it can be done. We can train ourselves to recognise the strategies used by the separate self. In fact, it is simple if we really want to see them. They always create division between us and others, and they always try to elevate ourselves while putting others down.

However, as Master More says, is it not more important to help others and us grow than to create division?

The Christ mind always looks for union and tries to raise all life, but the separate self, unable to feel the real power of spirit, looks for false power on earth. It perverts the real power by putting others down because it can only feel a sense of power on earth and wants to possess it.

We can learn to recognise this by contrasting these two ways of relating to others. Note that, by doing this, we are still in duality consciousness because we are opposing two different attitudes.

However, we cannot jump from duality consciousness to oneness in one leap. We gradually progress towards a lesser degree of duality, and this process continues until we can attain the 144th level of consciousness and beyond.

When we leave Earth, we will not have reached the final stage. We will simply be at the beginning of a new level of spiritual growth.
