Striving for Freedom

In this article, I will be commenting on the words of Master St. Germain.

 « What kind of freedom do you gain when you go into duality? Ah, you gain a freedom from, freedom from something. What kind of freedom do you have when you see yourself as a connected being and you are willing to transcend yourself? It is not a freedom from, it is a freedom to.[1]»

Freedom is a Process

When we begin our spiritual journey in the world of form, our consciousness is just a 'point' in the circumference of our minds that we must expand in the world of form.

Therefore, our perceived possibilities are also very limited at first because we can only choose from what we can see.

From the 48th to the 96th level of consciousness, we add 'rays' to this circumference, widening our range of choices. This is what Master St Germain calls an 'expansion of self'.

However, we can only truly expand our sense of self when we connect our minds to the Christ Mind, developing not only a horizontal relationship with the world of form, but also a vertical connection to our 'I Am' Presence and the Ascended Masters.

They represent the Christ Mind within us, as does the 'conscious you', which is the 'pure awareness' of our 'I am Presence'.

But, as we know from the case of Earth, it is not guaranteed that a being incarnated in the world of form will establish anything other than a horizontal relationship with the material world.

We can expand our sense of self not only  by mastering the material world through the experience of the temporary self  but also  opening ourselves to the intuition that there  is something more than this temporary sense of identity.

Some beings choose not to recognise anything beyond the separate sense of identity, which is meant to allow experimentation with freedom.

They choose duality as a permanent state of consciousness, but what kind of freedom do we have in duality?

The creation of a separate sense of identity brings with it a structure of subconscious selves that form the ego.

These selves were created in response to certain situations on Earth. They work like a 'ready-to-use' programme that repeats itself when a particular situation arises. They are compulsive and defensive in nature.

At this level, we can only experience 'freedom from'.

‘Freedom From’ is Limited by Duality

Without a doubt, there is some freedom in duality consciousness, but it always involves choosing one state and rejecting its opposite.

For example, I want peace, so I reject war. However, I am not creating anything new because my dualistic mind can only envisage things that already exist. Let's face it: the dualistic mind is a very narrow mental box.

This mind is also designed to ensure the security of the separate self, so it is always based on fear and the need for validation of the separate self.

It is self-centred in its perspective, and it takes a great deal of effort to even consider calling it 'freedom'. However, there is still freedom in the sense that duality is a choice, and the 'conscious you' never loses the ability to make a different choice.

However, duality is only possible when we deny the reality of our Christ mind. This implies 'forgetting' that we are more than our separate self, creating a 'Catch 22' situation from which we need help to escape.

«Freedom to» is a Creative Process

Although we all have glimpses of the Christ mind at lower levels, it is only when we pass the 96th-level initiation and begin to dismantle the ego structures that we experience a new level of freedom. At this point, we stop just reacting and truly begin to co-create.

Only the Christ mind is creative; only in the Christ mind can we conceptualise and manifest something new in the world.

Our identity is a creative process; a project conceived by our I Am Presence and ourselves as the 'conscious you'. In the many lives we have lived in the world of form, we are creating a unique omega identity individualised in Christ.

However, it is not a project designed in 'solitude' to fulfil some need or sense of lack; it is an expression of the abundance of life that recognises its connection to all things.

This project is not about elevating itself above others, but is about serving all life, of which we are a part. It is a process in which we can feel connected to all life, while also ‘co-creating’ who we want to be, as a gift from our Creator.
