Overcoming the Dualistic Vision of the Spiritual Path

In this article, I will write about the dualistic vision of the spiritual path on Earth. I am following the teachings of Master Padmasambhava from a recent conference[1].
The Epic Mindset and the Vision of the Spiritual Path
The fallen beings on Earth developed the epic mindset to prevent avatars from growing spiritually and to trap them forever in a dualistic frame of reference towards life. This mindset is based on a dualistic vision of the world that we can describe as 'black-and-white thinking': there are good people and bad people, and nothing in between.
We, the 'good people', can make a difference by solving the problem of eliminating the 'bad people' so that the 'good people' can prevail and only 'good' remains on Earth.
Many have been seduced by this illusory logic throughout history. Why is it illusory? Because, by definition, opposites are antagonistic and fight each other, trying to eliminate the other. However, this is an impossible quest.
Every opposite forms an inseparable pair with its counterpart; one cannot exist without the other. Thus, since the Fall, humanity has been embroiled in a futile and hopeless struggle, which suited the fallen beings who devised this strategy.
The same has happened with religion and the spiritual paths envisioned by mainstream traditions throughout human history: they are all imbued with the dualistic opposites of 'good and bad'.
The Hero Ideal of the Spiritual Path
Master Padmasambhava gave us examples that have fed the collective consciousness of many spiritual people on Earth.
He began by saying that in Tibet, there is a belief that Master Padmasambhava hid invaluable writings before living earth.
Those capable of finding these writings supposedly demonstrate unique abilities and will therefore be rewarded more highly than others.
Can you see how the desire to feel superior, a characteristic of the 'comparison mindset', is present in this idea?
Our Masters have already taught us enough about the fact that, in the eyes of our Creator, there are no superior beings and no one has special status, no matter how developed they are.
We all came from the same spiritual source; therefore, we all have equal value.
The idea that the spiritual path is very difficult, full of challenges that 'only the best' (the heroes) can handle, is another concept related to the desire to feel superior by pursuing the spiritual path.
Myths such as travelling to find treasure, the Holy Grail or slaying a dragon imply tremendous effort and abilities conceived in the image of success in the physical world.
The concept of a spiritual path is seen as a journey with many dangers, which a pure and innocent heart can overcome. Determination, courage, persistence and bravery are required to fight 'the enemies of the path'.
However, this is based on a dualistic consciousness that looks outside, into the material realm, for the dangers that must be overcome on the spiritual path.
In reality, all the obstacles on the spiritual path are 'inside' us, stored in our four material bodies.
As our Masters have said, the spiritual path is a 'psychological path' and an internal one.
To pursue the 'way', as Master Jesus called it, we must look inside ourselves. There are no dragons outside; they exist only inside us, in the many subconscious selves that created the ego structure.
We don't need to go to faraway places to look for 'better spiritual conditions' because they are not outside of us. The 'dragon' is inside us all, and we can all 'slay it' by simply jumping out of the ego and deciding to take responsibility for our own choices again.
To be on the spiritual path, all that is needed is to look inside with the eyes of the Christ mind and make the necessary changes to our sense of identity.
As Master Padmasambhava stated in his dictation, the real treasure we can find on the spiritual path is 'Christ consciousness'. What we need is to keep this treasure and grow the omega aspect of the Christ mind.
Rather than seeking to be heroes compared to 'common people', we should strive to form a community of equals, living in democracy, peace and cooperation. This community would form the nexus in the figure-of-eight flow of spiritual light from above to the earth.
This is our true challenge and potential victory, which can manifest the Golden Age on our physical plane.
