Digging Deeper into the Separate Self

In this article, I will discuss a particular type of self. The self that sees itself as a separate being, born on Earth before duality consciousness, but which reverted to a self instrumental to fallen consciousness after the fall.
We have heard the reference to the 'first self', which is taken at the 144th level, when a newly created extension of a spiritual being descends in the incarnation process and the ‘soul’ vehicle is created.
This self sees itself as separate from the 'I am' presence.
The purpose of this self is to enable experimentation with freedom, which can only take place in duality
As I have written elsewhere, there is no room for duality in the spiritual realm because its vibration is too high[1].
According to Lord Maitreya, the material universe is necessary because no being can be immortalised in the spiritual realm if it still has an attraction to duality.
For this reason, all beings must be permitted to experience whatever they wish, even if it goes against God’s laws, before they can consciously and voluntarily choose that they don’t want any more to experience what it is like to go against God’s laws.
This self, created at the 144th level of the descent or immersion phase, is necessary, but only temporarily.
However, as we know, for a number of beings since the fourth sphere, this self has become the basis for building the structures of the ego.
The Separate Self and the Ego
When this self was created, it was the first of the 'set of illusions' necessary for interaction with the material environment and growth in the material realm.
But this self, after the fall, was perverted in its use by the fallen beings in first place and by humanity after the general fall on earth.
Having disconnected from their spiritual source, the fallen beings identify with their material bodies, although not all of them have physical bodies.
However, they have at least one physical body: the one on the identity plane. Those living in the mental plane have an identity and a mental body. Those living in the emotional plane have an emotional body as well as mental and identity bodies.
Those living in the physical plane have four bodies, just like human beings. However, they differ from normal human beings in that they have lost their connection to the spiritual spark, or the 'I am' presence.
However, this does not mean that fallen beings no longer have a spiritual extension connected to them.
When a being's time in duality is over, their 'I am' presence absorbs their 'conscious you' when they face the second death. The 'I am' presence also plays a part in deciding the fate of the being.
In the book Fallen Angels and the Psychology of Control, Mother Mary says that, in the second death, the soul (the 3 material bodies- identity, mental and emotional) will be dissolved [2].
Until that moment, any being — fallen or human — has the potential to reconnect, if they decide to do so.
However, since the being's disconnection from the I Am Presence, their sense of identity has relied on the separate self that was first created during the immersion phase.
It is here that I would like to share an important insight: We know from Mother Mary's teachings that our three material bodies remain the same from one incarnation to the next; only the material body changes with each incarnation.
There is a hierarchy between our four material bodies, from the identity level at the top, where the fire elemental rules, to the subsequent bodies.
The mental body depends on the identity level, the emotional body depends on the mental body, and the physical body depends on the emotional body.
Together, they are all ruled by the fire elemental of the identity. This elemental controls the material bodies, or the soul, and is the basis for the sense of separate identity. After the fall, it is also the basis for the ego.
This self, in command of the material bodies, controls the 'conscious you' when it decides to stop making decisions.
As for the separate self, connected to the ego and supported by the element of fire, this is the usurper and the 'invader'.
When the ‘conscious you’ decides to no longer take responsibility for itself, it is this self that dreams of becoming immortalised. This self is the identity of the soul (let's not forget that the elemental is matter).
Until the ‘conscious you’ identifies with it, it will not grow: the ‘conscious you’ was meant to take dominion over matter and all elemental bodies. However, it is now matter and the elemental bodies that have taken control.
This perversion must be reversed so that self-aware beings can fulfil their life's purpose.
