Accelerating Ourselves in the Spiritual Path

In this article I am commenting on the words of Master Serapis Bey:« Am I willing to step up, to accelerate my intention to a higher level that is not ego-based? And am I actually willing to continue doing that as long as I am in embodiment?»[1]

The Conceptual Mind and the Linear Mind

There are two mental abilities – conceptualising and linear thinking – that are needed to grow through experimentation on Earth.

The spiritual path is experiential: we use the mind's conceptualising function to visualise something new that we want to experience and project it into the world.

After that, we observe what comes back and evaluate it neutrally using the rational (linear) mind.

The linear mind cannot envisage anything new and the conceptual mind cannot explain anything.

 As Master Serapis tells us, the linear mind is a secondary ability that serves to evaluate what is already there and create a sense of continuity in our experience.

Initially, we use more the conceptual mind when we are newly created beings.

When we already have more contents in our four material bodies, the linear mind is necessary to help us co-create by building upon our previous experiences.

This is what happens on a natural planet.

The Spiritual Path Cannot be Envisaged by the Ego

After the Fall, the processes of the mind are reversed because the dualistic mind of the separate self, which was created on Earth, is not creative.

It cannot imagine anything new; it can only co-create from what already exists.

This hinders the spiritual path, which is a creative process where we co-create the omega aspect of our identities by connecting to the Christ mind — something that is impossible to accomplish in duality.

So, what does the ego do when it encounters a spiritual path such as that of the Ascended Masters?

It uses earthly patterns to create an image of the spiritual path, driven by its desire to be immortalised and perfected.

As Master Serapis says, the ego cannot comprehend Christ, so it creates an image of the spiritual path based on earthly experiences in the material realm — an outer path.

It fails to recognise that the process of internal self-transcendence is not a matter of being loving or 'wise' according to earthly standards, nor of finding a guru who can 'save it'.

The only way to grow spiritually is to transcend the external self, or the ego.

But how do we do that? As Master Paul the Venetian taught us in the previous discourse, rather than trying to find 'reasons' or 'justifications' in this world of form to 'explain' why we should follow a spiritual path, we should simply accelerate ourselves.

We must transcend the ego. But how do we achieve this? By loving something more than the 'me', the image of the ego.

This requires us to stop trying to justify anything and connect to our intuition ,our Christ consciousness to discover that what we love more is a higher cause than our egos.

However, this is not an epic cause stemming from the ego; it is love for something greater than the ego: our I Am Presence, the whole of life, the Ascended Masters, or a particular Ascended Master.

In any case, we expand our love beyond the limited scope of the ego to encompass something greater than this physical world.

It is love that can help us to grow. Not the ‘love’ that comes from the ego's desire for something in this world — be it an object, a position, or a person — but the love that comes from connecting to the stream of life.

We can feel this love when we reach the 96^th  level and beyond, connecting to the vast web of spiritual life and feeling it flow through us. This love is much greater than anything on earth.

According to Master Serapis, we are not accelerated through power, wisdom or love directed to conquer something in this world, but rather we need to develop the threefold flame within ourselves so that we can further accelerate by giving what we also receive.

It is no accident that the Masters tell us that the reward for our service is more service.

Although the ego sees it as a sacrifice, this is simply what we are at a certain point on our path. We realise that the service we are giving is the same service that we have already received and continue to receive.

We experience this love and know from experience that it is the universal expression of life, stretching back to the Creator.

As the Masters tell us, the spiritual path is the movement towards oneness, towards our spiritual source from which we all came.
